O2 internet in Spain, for expats

Is O2 right for you?

O2 is Telefónica's simpler second brand: it uses the same top-tier Movistar fibre network, with no minimum contract and none of the shared-address problems that trip up remote workers. It isn't the cheapest, it's Spanish-first, and it's not the same company as O2 in the UK or Germany, so don't expect English support.

Choose O2 if

  • You want Movistar's network quality without a long contract. O2 has no minimum term.
  • You work from home. O2 gives each home its own public internet address, with no shared-address CG-NAT, the cleanest of these options for cameras, VPNs and remote access.
  • You want simple, predictable pricing rather than chasing the cheapest possible deal.

Look elsewhere if

  • You want the lowest price. O2 is mid-range, not budget.
  • You need English support. O2 Spain is Spanish-first and separate from O2 UK/Germany. Settlewell can set up a supported option in English.
  • You've just arrived with only a passport and no Spanish bank account. O2's normal signup expects an NIE and a Spanish bank account.

Prepare once, avoid most delays

O2 is clean technically, but the order is still Spanish-first and expects standard Spanish paperwork.

    Check the exact address

    Availability is address-specific. Check the full property address before comparing providers or choosing a bundle.

    Prepare the documents and bank details

    O2's normal checkout expects Spanish identity details such as an NIE and a bank route. Do not promise passport-only signup.

    Check the technical fit

    O2 assigns a public dynamic IP and does not use Carrier-Grade Network Address Translation (CG-NAT), where several homes share one internet address. That makes it one of the cleaner options for cameras, remote access, home VPNs and port forwarding.

    Protect the installation appointment

    Make sure someone can answer Spanish calls, grant building access and approve router or cable placement. Keep the old connection active until the new line is installed and tested.

What English help can you expect from O2?

O2 Spain is Spanish-first and separate from O2 UK or Germany.

Provider support

O2 Spain does not publish a guaranteed English-support route for home fibre. Expect the normal journey to be Spanish-led.

Stores and agents

A helpful agent may speak English, but that is not a provider promise. Confirm conditions in writing before signing.

Practical expectation

O2 is better for people who want Movistar-network quality and can handle Spanish paperwork themselves, or who want Settlewell to compare supported English setup options.
