Revolut in Spain: a guide for expats

By Linus Palmqvist, Head of Operations Reviewed by Simon Nilsson Last reviewed

Spain-registered Revolut customers get an ES IBAN through Revolut’s Spanish branch. As with N26, this is for people who are legally resident in Spain, not a reason to register Spain before your move is real.

A Revolut office in Spain

Is Revolut right for your stage of move?

A strong app-first option for settled residents, but its country-registration rules make it unsuitable as a pre-arrival shortcut.

Good fit if

  • You are legally resident in Spain.
  • You want a Spain-registered fintech account with an ES IBAN.
  • You are comfortable resolving most issues in-app.

Check carefully if

  • You are not yet resident in Spain.
  • You need a general public Spanish phone line.
  • You want to avoid app-chat resolution if compliance issues arise.

Choose your option

Choose between independent help with your move or checking Revolut's current process directly.

What stage are you at?

Bank fit changes depending on where you are in the move. Check each stage before treating a bank as a good option.

Before you arrive

Conditional

You cannot register Revolut to Spain before you live here. If you already use Revolut from home, you can keep using it, and its EU IBAN works for Spanish payments.

Just landed

Conditional

Keep using a Revolut account you already hold from home while you settle. Registering to Spain comes later, once you legally live here.

Settled resident

Available

Once you legally live in Spain, Revolut can register you through its Spanish branch and issue a Spanish ES IBAN. A permanent country move can mean closing and reopening the account, so do not register Spain early.

IBAN

Customers registered to Spain receive a Spanish ES IBAN through Revolut’s Spanish branch.

Fees

As of 11 July 2026, Standard was €0 and paid plans ranged from €3.99 to €55; standard card delivery was €6.99 domestic or €7.99 international. Check current terms.

Prepare before you apply

Match the option to your current stage, then confirm the live bank requirements before submitting an application.

  1. 1

    Use your real residence

Do not register Spain early just to obtain an ES IBAN.

  2. 2

    Check move consequences

A permanent country move can require closing and reopening the account.

  3. 3

    Review plan and delivery terms

Check current plan and card-delivery charges before ordering a card.

English support reality

Revolut’s app reputation is strong, but customer discussions repeatedly flag compliance reviews and chat-only resolution as friction points.

Normal support

The normal option is in-app chat.

Call option

Ultra includes in-app calls; there is no general public Spanish geographic number.
